Robert Davis/Michael Langlois House of the Rising Sun

Robert Davis and Michael Langlois have been collaborating since they met at the School of the Art Institute in 1997. Though their output primarily consists of paintings, the pair also collaborates to create sculpture and large-scale installations. Davis + Langlois divide their time between Brooklyn and Chicago and have had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner Contemporary, Los Angeles(2008); Monique Meloche, Chicago (2007, 2004, 2002); Markus Winter Gallery, Berlin (2006) and Changing Role Move Over Gallery, Naples Italy (2006). Group exhibitions include Sharpening My Oyster Knife, Kunst Museum Magdeberg, Germany (2008) and Ah Decadence, The Art Institute of Chicago (2008). Davis + Langlois alternatively paint in the tradition of Ingres and Tuymans and their canvases are dense with historical and pop culture characters and controversial icons.
