Born in Los Angeles in 1983, Conrad Ruiz earned a BFA from California State University, San Bernardino in 2005 and an MFA from the California College of the Arts in 2009.
Inspired by Hollywood films and epic history paintings, Ruiz creates large-scale watercolors on canvas and paper that depict moments of chaos or euphoria while raising issues relating to class, race and gender. His works have been included in various group exhibitions, including Wet Paint, Steve Turner Contemporary (2009) and Summer Exhibition, Kravets Wehby, New York (2009). He had a solo exhibition at Silverman Gallery, San Francisco (2009) and will have his first solo exhibition at Steve Turner Contemporary in July, 2010.
